Rustlers Fight til' Five

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West faced off against defending state champions Long Beach City College, falling in the five set match. LBCC won the match by scores of 33-31, 22-25, 23-25, 25-20, and 12-15.

It was a hard fought game with the Rustlers (1-1) winning the first and fourth set of the night. Sophomore Phil Lopez lead the team's hitting percentages, supporting the Rustler's in their first home game. DJ Koenen delivered 7 kills and put up 1 solo block, while teammate Jose Ulloa sent 5 kills over the net as well as 1 service ace. 

Outside hitter, Matt Hilling, who lead Golden West with 20 kills over the 5 set match,  was injured in the 5th set with a sprained knee, trainers have yet to clear him for Wednesday's home game. 

NEXT: The Rustlers play at home against Santa Barbara, game starts at 6:00pm.
