Rustlers Turn Down the Jets, Sweep Miramar 3-0

 Huntington Beach, Calif. – Golden West (2-5) hosted the newly-formed San Diego Miramar (1-5) men's volleyball team and won in dominant fashion, 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-16). 

Outside hitter Alvin Truong led Golden West with seventeen kills on 17-for-38  (.447) hitting. Opposite hitter Lenzie Ainsworth added nine kills for the Rustlers. Taivasa Alama had one service ace and five kills, including the match-ending spike in the third set.

The Rustlers led all throughout the first set. Sophomore setter Nathan May capped off the set when he punched one over to give the Rustlers a 25-20 first set victory.

The second set saw the Jets lead early, 6-4. After tying the set 8-8, sophomore Jake Nuneviller hit one down the Miramar side to out Golden West ahead, 9-8. The Rustlers rode out the momentum to a set two win after freshman setter Pablo Enriquez sealed the deal. 

Set three was quick, as Taivasa Alama ended the match to give the Rustlers a 3-0 sweep of the Jets.
