Rustlers Struck By Lasers

Huntington Beach, Calif. – Golden West (7-12, 4-7) fell to Irvine Valley (13-4, 11-2) in four sets (25-21, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21) Wednesday evening. Sophomore outside hitter Alvin Truong led the Rustlers with 17 kills and registered eight digs, along with a service ace. Opposite hitter Lenzie Ainsworth tallied nine kills and libero Daniel Vasquez had a team-high 15 digs.

All sets were decided by a score of 25-21. Set one was capped off after Golden West lost sight of the ball after being deflected off the elevated basketball hoop on the ceiling to give Irvine Valley set one. Set two was finished with a Laser service error to tie the match at one set apiece. 

Golden West kept up with Irvine Valley the next two sets, but lost both to lose the match. Ainsworth, Alama, and Peck all had solid defensive outings as they each registered a solo block.

NEXT: The Rustlers will end their season on the road to face San Diego Mesa in the finale on Friday, April 10, at 6:00 p.m.
