Olsen Leads Rustlers to 3-1 Win with 20 Kills

Huntington Beach, CA ‑ The Golden West men's volleyball team passed its first test of the young 2017 season, with a four-set victory over visiting El Camino College on Wednesday.

The Rustlers, ranked fifth in the California Community College Men's Volleyball Coaches Association State Poll in week 2, dropped the first set and then swept the next three to defeat the seventh-ranked warriors.

Sophomore Kysen Olsen recorded team-highs in kills (20) and service aces (5), with four digs. Freshman Reid Harrison (Long Beach Poly High) had a team-high 23 assists with four digs and four aces to help pace the Rustlers (2-0).

Freshman Alex Crain (Rio Americano High/Sacramento) added six kills, seven digs, a block and an assist. Sophomore Trevor Robinson had a team-high 13 digs with two aces, freshman Sterling Miles (Mater Dei High) recorded four kills and two digs and freshman Shilo Chow (Foothill High/Nevada) had three kills, 12 assists and two blocks.

Golden West plays its first road match of the season at LA Pierce on Friday, before returning home to host #8 Santa Barbara City College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
