Rustlers Win in Top 10 Showdown

Huntington Beach, CA - The Golden West men's volleyball team continued to hold serve at home, with a four-set victory over visiting San Diego Mesa College on Wednesday.

The Rustlers defeated 10th-ranked San Diego Mesa, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 25-19 to remain undefeated at home. Golden West (5-1), ranked sixth in the most recent California Community College Men's Volleyball Coaches Association State Poll, won its third consecutive match.

Sophomore Kysen Olsen recorded team-highs in kills (16) and service aces (2), with six digs. Freshman Sterling Miles (Mater Dei High) recorded 12 kills, two digs with a block and sophomore Tyler Peck had 10 kills and a digs to pace the Rustlers.

Freshman Shilo Chow (Foothill High/Nevada) had a team-high 39 assists, with four kills, 12 assists and a dig. Sophomore Kyle Traylor added seven kills, three digs and team-high three blocks and sophomore Trevor Robinson recorded a team-high 14 digs with four assists.

Golden West returns home to host Grossmont College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1.
