M Volleyball: Out Lasts Hawks in Thrilling Five Set Win

Huntington Beach, Calif. - It took all five sets but the Golden West men's volleyball team earned it's first victory in 2021 in a 3-2 (25-17, 22-25, 25-22, 23-25, 19-17) thriller.

The Rustlers came out motivated in the first set tallying 12 kills total while holding the Santiago Canyon College Hawks to four first set kills. Freshman outside hitter Trevor Briggs led Golden West on the night with 16 kills and also chipped in 14 digs with two blocking assists.

After that first set, both teams just battled it out in a back and forth match all the way to end of the fifth and decisive match. Sophomores Tanner Briggs and Jack Baker each recorded 15 kills a piece to give Golden West the edge and ultimately the win in the fifth set. Setter/Libero Mac Beggs was all over the hardwood as he recorded a season high 60 assists.

NEXT: Golden West will travel to Fullerton Wednesday, May 12th for a 6pm start.
