No. 3 Rustlers Take Down No. 2 Olympians

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West men's volleyball (9-1) defeated the San Diego Mesa Olympains (9-3), 3-1. 

The No. 3 Rustlers traveled to San Diego Mesa to take on the No. 2 ranked team in the state for a huge battle. Golden West went into Wednesday's meeting on a six game winning streak with only one loss on the season to Santa Monica. The 3C2A and the CCCMVCA released the standings for the statewide men's volleyball rankings which saw the Rustlers at No. 3 and the Olympians at No. 2 ahead of their highly anticipated matchup. 

San Diego showed dominance early as the Olympians won by double-digits in the first set, 15-25. Golden West flipped the script in the second set as it went down to match point multiple times. The Rustlers would win a close one, 27-25. It was another back and forth affair in the third set as Golden West would once again win late into the set, 25-23. In an identical score, the Rustlers took the fourth and final set, 25-23. The No. 3 Golden West Rustlers would upset the No. 2 San Diego Mesa Olympians in a thrilling matchup, 3-1. 

NEXT UP: Golden West will play their next matchup at San Diego Miramar on Friday, March 1st. The meeting will begin at 6pm.
