Water Polo Remains On Course

The men's water polo team is home from a long weekend in northern California, playing 5 teams in 3 days. The weekend was a true test of their ability as they faced the top two teams from the north: DVC and West Valley.  Earlier on the trip, the Rustlers defeated Delta College (22-5), Sierra College (20-4) and matched up against yet another 4-year school, University of the Pacific "B" team.

Golden West was able to come out of the West Valley tournamnet unscathed defeating West Valley 13-9, and Diablo Valley 10-7 in back to back games.

Scotty Silvas (Clovis, CA/Buchanon HS), Fletcher Norseen (Irvine, CA/Irvine HS) and Ari Marks (Newport Beach, CA/Carona Del Mar HS) lead the Rustlers with their defensive performances over the weekend combined for 21 steals, 9 block shots, and 19 assists.

Marton Szabo (Hungary) and Nate Sfreddo (Huntington Beach, CA/Huntington Beach HS) shared net time during the 5 games. Szabo finished with 24 saves and Sfreddo had a total of 18 saves for the weekend.

When asked about their performance over the weekend, Coach Taylor remarked, "The team still has a lot of work to do before the end of the season."
