GWC Water Polo Winning on the Road

Stockton, Calif. - The Rustlers are back on the road, finishing their first day at Delta College with two solid wins over the northern California opponents.

Golden West (11-0) first faced off with host Delta College and wasted no time running the score up 9-3 in the first half. Scoring on the Mustangs was spread across the Rustler bench, with points from Joshua Hueth, Alessandro Valania, Mitchell Holden, Connor Paterson, Ciaran Wolohan, Justin Hermosillo, and Joseph Santoro

The second half saw a strong offensive performance from freshman Holt Fundament, netting two back to back, in the fourth quarter. Delta would try their best to recover but Santoro's defensive attack and 4 steals had the Mustangs stuck in the water. In the net for Golden West was Bryse Knowles and Nicholas Dale with a combined 5 saves. The final score of the Rustlers first game was 17-6.

Sierra College met a similar fate when they did their best to bring down the Rustlers in the next game. Golden West found the back of the net 17 times again for a final score of 17-5.

Fundament and Valania hit their offensive stride once again, this time adding a hat trick each to their stats for the day. Adding points of their own, Sean Newcombe and John Garczynski both scored on the struggling Sierra defense.

Next, the men will be put to the test when they get in the water with one of the top teams in the NCAA, the University of the Pacific.
