Southern California Regional Preview

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Golden West and West Valley have been selected as the top seeds for the upcoming California Community College Athletic Association Men's Water Polo Regionals, scheduled to begin later this week.

Golden West takes a perfect 26-0 record into the Southern California Regional, which will be hosted by L.A. Valley from Thursday through Saturday. It'll enjoy a first-round bye along with second-seeded Long Beach. Both teams will face winners of Thursday's first-round games in Friday's quarterfinals while L.A. Valley, Citrus, Orange Coast and Cerritos - the third through sixth seeds, respectively - will also open up play in the quarterfinals on Friday.

West Valley and Sierra are the top two seeds in the Northern California Regional and will have byes into Saturday's semifinals. The tournament will be played at San Joaquin Delta on Friday and Saturday. Delta, Modesto, Merced and American River are the remaining four seeds, in order, and will play quarterfinal matchups on Friday.

Championships for both regionals will be played on Saturday.

The top two teams from each regional will advance to the state championship tournament at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, Nov. 17-18.
