M Water Polo: Two Big Wins Friday, Split Two Tough Matches Saturday

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West men's water polo team hosted a kickoff tournament Friday 9/7 and Saturday 9/8 that featured nine California Community College Athletic Association programs and 18 matches. 

The Rustlers got the games going on Friday morning with a dominating win over Rio Hondo College 26-2. In a match that allowed everyone to play the Rustlers led 15-1 at halftime after they exploded for ten goals in the second quarter. The offense kept scoring in the second half as they were able to net 11 more goals en route of their dominating win. 

Golden West got back in the pool later Friday afternoon to face off against Palomar College in a simialr dominated win 21-3. The Rustlers would hold a 12-1 lead at halftime and never look back as they netted another 9 goals in the second half to win 21-3. 

Saturday morning however the Golden West program suffered their first loss in over two years to LA Valley College 10-9. The Rustlers did rebound with a big win over Long Beach City College 11-7 to end the tournament 3-1. 

NEXT: Golden West will host Sierra College on Thursday September 2nd at 2pm.
