M Water Polo: Claims 30th Consecutive Orange Empire Conference Championship

Fullerton, Calif. - For the 30th consecutive season, Golden West College ran away with the Orange Empire Conference men's water polo title, this time defeating Orange Coast College 16-7.

Attackers Manuel Augusto and Peyton Collins led the Rustlers with five goals and four goals respectively. Collins netted his four goals all in the first half while Augusto spaced his out over the first three quarters of play.

The Rustlers only held a slim 3-1 lead through the first quarter as Orange Coast did all they could to disrupt one of the best offensive attacks in the state. The offense got into a rythym in the second quarter as they were able to extend the lead 8-5 at the half.

It was the stellar play of the defense and goalkeeper Andrew Cameron in the second half that guided Golden West to victory. The Rustlers surrendered only two second half goals as the offense for Golden West matched their output from the first half.

Golden West moves on to the Southern California Regional Championships on Friday, November 9th at Cerritos College. They will play at 2pm.
