M Water Polo: Win Southern California Regional Championship

Cerritos, Calif. - The Golden West College men's water polo team qualified for it's 32nd state water polo tournament appearance and 17th straight, beating LA Valley 11-6 for the Southern California Regional Championship. 

The Rustlers held a slim 3-2 lead after the first quarter thanks to goals netted by Micah Kamai, Nicky Ure, and Cody Ingram. The defense would shut out LA Valley in the second quarter to help the offense build on its slim lead to take a 5-2 lead into halftime. Ure and Nate Smith would net the two goals for Golden West in the second quarter. 

LA Valley came out of halftime fired up and outscored the Rustlers 3-2 in the quarter but Golden West held onto the lead 7-5 heading into the fourth quarter. Thats when the Rustlers pulled away to claim the championship 11-6 while scoring four goals in the fourth quarter to close it out. 

The Rustlers will travel to West Valley College to play Merced College in the State Championship semifinals at 2:15pm Friday, November 16th.
