M Water Polo: Advances to CCCAA State Championship

Livermore, Calif. - Golden West College men's water polo advances to the CCCAA State Championship in search of their state record 30th title with their 21-5 win over Diablo Valley College this morning. 

It was a slow start for the Rustlers as they were tied 2-2 at the end of the first quarter. Head coach Scott Taylor motivated them at the break as Golden West unleashed in the second quarter, netting seven goals to take a commanding halftime lead 9-3. 

Itamar Kolodny and Barnabas Vidovics led the offensive attack in the second quarter with two goals a piece to pace the Rustlers. The defense clamped down in the second quarter as well on DVC to put the game out of reach. Golden West tallied another seven goals in the third quarter to take a 16-4 lead into the fourth quarter. Konstaninos Koulouris led all scorers in the second half with four goals as the Rustlers ran away in the CCCAA state semi-finals. 

Golden West will take on West Valley tomorrow morning at 11am for the programs 30th state title and fifth consecutive trophy. Watch it live at www.baosn.tv
