M Water Polo: Postseason Accolades Keep Rolling for Rustlers

Huntington Beach, Calif. – Goalie Garrett Henderson was named the CCCAA State Championships Most Valuable Player.

Felipe Ferreira and Augi Macchi were selected to the All-State team for their outstanding play while guiding Golden West to their sixth consecutive CCCAA title. The Rustlers hauled in their 29th state title in program history over the weekend and has won 11 of the last 14 state championships in men's water polo.

Golden West also claimed the eighth-consecutive Southern Regional Championship and their 35th in program history.

Ferreira and Eamon Hennessey were named Co-most valuable players in the Orange Empire Conference as they helped claim the programs 33rd consecutive Orange Empire Conference championship. Head Coach Scott Taylor earned conference coach of the year.

Alec Johnson, Stan De Mey, and Macchi were selected to the All- OEC first team as Itay Roth and Henderson were selected to the second team and Srboljub Filipovic and Nico Dangelo made honorable mention.

This team embodied their mantra this season of "less me, more we" en route to their impressive 27-3 overall record with two of their loss coming from NCAA Division 1 programs Long Beach State and Pepperdine.

Coach Taylor improves to 583 career victories to just 41 losses for an astounding .934 career winning percentage. He has led Golden West to 12 state championships in his 20 seasons at the helm.
