Mt. San Jacinto Needed The Mercy Rule

Mt. San Jacinto Needed The Mercy Rule

Huntington Beach, Calif. - After dropping their season opener 1-2 just a few hours before, the Rustlers came out with a vengeance forcing the umpire to call the game based on the mercy rule in softball.

Golden West went on a scoring spree in the 1st inning.  Ciera Henson reached on a single, Tanya Dowler moved Henson over on a SAC bunt and Dowler out rand the throw to first to put two on base with no outs.  Cori O'Donoghue crushed one over the fence driving Ciera and Tanya home and put their Rustlers up 3-0.  The offense kept the pressure on as the Rustlers would score 2 more before the inning came to a close.

The next inning was almost a repeat of the first, with the top of the order back up to the plate, the Rustlers jumped out early, racking up another 4 runs before Mt. San Jacinto could respond.  Golden West built a 9 run lead going into the 3rd inning.  It took just one more inning for the Rustlers to enforce the mercy rule defeating Mt. San Jacinto 11-0.

Golden West is back in action on February 1st as they host another double header verse Citrus (2:00pm) and San Diego Mesa (6:00pm)
