Golden West Send Pirates To Walk The Plank

Golden West Send Pirates To Walk The Plank

Costa Mesa, Calif. - Golden West crossed home plate an unprecedented 20 times during their game against Orange Coast College. This big win comes as the Rustlers (2-3) start conference play, and they are coming out swinging. With a combination of wild throws, fielding errors and a steady offenseive strike from the Rustlers,  the Pirates (1-7) were unable to get their legs underneath them.

The Rustlers started the inning sending players steadily around the bases, and ending the inning with 5 runs. The women moved around the bases like clockwork, and with a wild pitch from the Pirates and an error at OCC's 3rd base, the Rustles took a commanding lead. Ciera Henson, Moriah Simpson, Katie Fredrickson, Janelle Santucci and Alex Corral all crossed home plate.

When Golden West's defense took the field, the Pirates grounded out 3 in a row, putting the Rustlers back in the dugout, looking to score more runs. In the top of the second, Moriah Simpson scored again on a throwing error from the Pirates catcher.

Rustler Kiley Eskridge,  walked the first Pirate in the bottom of the second, then proceeded to strike out two more swinging OCC players.  When Eskridge was up to bat in the top of the third, she was the first to score, followed by Linzy Harkins, and Jessica Llamas.  The score was 9-0, and Golden West wasn't finished rounding the bases.

With Pirate substitutions in the top of the fourth inning, Henson doubled to right field with a 2 RBI, sending Harkins to score, as well as Corral. Sarah Craig advanced to second on a fielder's choice, sending Simpson and Henson to score. Llamas scored the fifth run of the inning on an throwing error by the short stop. Both Craig and Santucci  scored on unearned runs bringing the inning total to 7 runs.

The Rustlers finally mercied the Pirates in the fifth inning, scoring 3 more runs, finishing the highest scoring game in the season thus far.
