Pirates Owned the Night

Pirates Owned the Night

Huntington Beach, Calif - While the Rustlers looked fresh and ready for a win in their new uniforms, the Rustlers lost it in the lights 8-5 to the Orange Coast Pirates (3-23, 1-14).

Golden West (8-17, 3-10) held the lead the 3-0 until the top of the 5th, when something changed in the Pirates bats, and they started connecting - consistently. This is the first conference win for Orange Coast and their 6 run inning brought the confidence the women needed to finish the game. Despite the changes in Rustler pitching, Golden West could not get their defensive legs underneath them and let their early lead go.

In the bottom of the 7th, Golden West's Marissa "Missy" Gilbuena got a single, along with teammate Alex Corral. Gilbuena advanced to second and the Rustlers were looking to score. Three walks later by the Pirate pitcher brought home Corral and Gilbuena, but that was the end of night for Golden West.

Next - The ladies knock the dust off their cleats and travel to Cypress for a 2:00pm game.
