Gauchos Gallop Past Rustlers

Gauchos Gallop Past Rustlers

Mission Viejo, Calif. - Scoring seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning put host Saddleback College in winning position despite a big Rustler inning in the top of the second. Golden West (2-15, 0-7) held the Gauchos with minimal scoring, but in the end the Rustlers couldn't hold the lead.

Saddleback (12-6, 5-3) played a strong defensive game, only allowing Golden West to score in the second. The Rustlers had a chance, until seven Gaucho runs and five hits catapulted Saddleback into the lead.

Golden West saw a strong offensive opportunity with Saddleback's pitcher change up, taking the walks and filling the bases. Angie Flores placed a key single RBI giving the Rustlers their first run. Kiley Dunn's single to left center brought two players home to score, along with Kenzie Brewster's down the line single. Working through the line up, Golden West was able to bring 5 runners home in the top of the second inning.  Struggling to get hits in the next four innings, Golden West lost their lead, only scoring once more in the top of the seventh.

Next: The women will take on the Orange Coast in their first night game of the season. Come cheer on your Rustlers as they attempt to sink the Pirates Friday March 14th at 6:00pm.
