Softball Soars over Saddleback

Softball Soars over Saddleback

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West softball took down conference leader Saddleback in a last inning rally for a 4-3 victory.

Saddleback (11-5, 6-2) was tied for first place in the conference, and with a run in the first inning, and two in the third, they looked to be on their way to a win. The Rustlers (6-15, 2-6) started the game swinging, but would be scoreless until the bottom of the seventh, were everything changed for the home team.

Starting off the game winning inning for Golden West was third baseman, Taylor Clinkaberry who doubled, and then scored when Sarah Avila reached first on a Saddleback error. Avila advanced to third thanks a single by Kiley Eskridge. The Rustler momentum kept going when Amanda Severn singled for an RBI, setting up Eskridge to score the tying run. The Gauchos brought in pitcher Bree Beatty to close out the inning, and it was the Rustlers game from there. Eskridge and Severn both scored on the pitchers error and the game was over.

Next: The Rustlers travel to conference rival Orange Coast College on Friday, March 13th, game time at 3pm.
