Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West College (0-7, 0-1) softball team dropped its Orange Empire Conference opening game against Saddleback College (5-3, 1-0) in a one hit shutout loss, 9-0.

Starting pitcher Vanessa Camacho(0-5) did all she could in the circle going three innings while giving up eight hits, nine runs, only one earned run, and walking two. The offense provided no help as freshman Janelle Watson (1 for 2) recorded the Rustlers only hit. Kiya Hernandez would come in to relieve Camacho in the fourth inning with great success. Hernandez gave up one hit in two innings of work.

In the end, the offense managed only two total base runners and no one past first base as the Rustlers are still searching for their first win on the season.

NEXT: Golden West will travel to Moorpark for a doubleheader Saturday February 18th at 10am.
