Late Rally Dooms Rustlers

Late Rally Dooms Rustlers

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West (0-18, 0-10) softball team battled with Orange Coast College (5-15, 3-7) and ultimately lost 13-2.

Both teams came out swinging in the first inning as OCC would score two runs on four hits after sending seven batters to plate. The Rustlers weren't to be out done as the first three batters reached safely while sending six batters to plate in the frame. Patricia Boyette would lead things off with a double down the left field line followed by a Vanessa Camacho single to left center field. That set up runners on first and third for Lacey Combs to smack a two RBI double to the left center field fence to tie the game 2-2.

OCC would respond with two more runs in the top of the second inning to take the lead back at 4-2. The game stayed quiet till the top of the fourth inning when OCC would score another two runs extending its lead to 6-2.

Golden West's starting pitcher Vanessa Camacho did all she could pitching into the sixth inning while surrending seven runs on 11 hits and walking one.

OCC would bat around in the sixth inning scoring seven runs on five hits to win the game with the mercy rule 13-2.

Next: The Rustlers will host Santiago Canyon College Wednesday March 22nd at 3pm.
