Softball: No Hit in Lopsided OEC Loss

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West College softball team was no hit by Riverside City College in a lopsided 16-0 mercy shortened five inning game.

The Rustlers defense came out of the gates with two errors that lead to Riverside's early 3-0 lead after the first inning. The Tiger's capitalized on a lead off triple in the second to tack on another run and extend their lead 4-0. Golden West looked to be gaining some confidence after holding the Tigers scoreless in the top half of the third inning and they got their only baserunner Vanessa Escandon via walk in the bottom half of the frame. Unfortunately, the next batter, Alexa Reyes grounded into a double play to the end the inning.

The Tiger's put their foot on the gas pedal in the fourth inning, scoring nine runs on six hits while taking advantage of one error to put the game away for good with a 13-0 lead. They would tack on another three runs in the fifth inning to produce the final score of 16-0.

Riverside's Riley Peckels pitched five innings of no hit ball, while walking one, and striking one batter out.

NEXT: Golden West will host Fullerton College on Monday, March 12th at 3pm.
