Softball: Bounces back in Game 2 to Earn Split on Opening Day

Glendale, Calif. - The Rustler softball team opened the 2019 campaign with a split on Friday at the Dave "Hawk" Wilder Memorial Tournament in Glendale. Golden West (1-1) dropped their opener 18-0 to Ventura College but bounced back in game two with a 6-3 win over Mt. San Jacinto.

Ventura 18, Golden West 0 

The Rustlers weren't able to get anything going offensively against Ventura's pitching as they were held to two hits. The two hits came from Isabella Ramirez, who recorded her first multi-hit game of the season. Ventura used an eleven run second inning to run away with the opener as they pounded the softball with 16 hits, 5 were extra base hits. 

Golden West 6, Mt. San Jacinto 3

Jennifer Hartman earned her first win of the season pitching all five innings while surrendering three runs on four hits. Offensively, Camryn Worsham (2for3) and Hartman (2for2) each recorded multi-hit games as the Rustlers scored their six runs on nine hits. 

Golden West will finish the tournament in Glendale on Saturday January 26th with games against Cuesta College at 830am and Long Beach at 1030am.
