Huntington Beach, Calif. -The Golden West Softball team hosted the Compton College Tartars Saturday for a double header. The Rustlers showed that they are the far superior team as they would cruise to two easy wins. The Rustlers won game one 12-0 and game two 19-2, improving to 5-3 on the season.
Game 1
In game one the Rustlers mercy ruled the Tartars 12-0 after five innings. Starting pitcher Lali Rios shined in the win, pitching a complete game shut out giving up only three hits and striking out eight, while adding a two RBI triple at the plate. The Rustler offense helped give Rios a comfortable lead to pitch with scoring twelve runs off nine hits while stealing five bases.
Game 2
The Tartars looked ready to bounce back from a tough game one loss getting a couple of hits and scoring a run in the top of the first inning. However, Golden West would put a stop to any momentum Compton had scoring six runs in in the bottom half of the inning. The Rustlers would go on to score thirteen more runs as they would mercy rule Compton after five innings again, 19-2. Starting pitcher Myah Norduist pitched five innings allowing only two earned runs while nine different Rustlers recorded an RBI on offense, led by Kennedy Burton and Madalyn Burton who each had four a piece.
Next: The Rustlers continue their 2020 campaign Wednesday, February 19th at Orange Coast College at 2:00pm.
