Softball: Offense Sputters Again in Conference Action

Softball: Offense Sputters Again in Conference Action

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West College Softball hosted the Santiago Canyon College Hawks Friday afternoon in Orange Empire Conference Action.

The Rustler's would lose despite a solid outing by starting pitcher Kennedy Burton. Burton pitched seven innings allowing two earned runs on eleven hits, but it was her ability to get out of tight jams with runners in scoring position that was impressive. Burton kept the Rustlers in the game even though the offense was getting no hit through three innings and were shutout through five.

The Rustlers made a push late in the game scoring a run in the bottom of the sixth, but it wouldn't be enough as they would leave two on base while still trailing by two runs. Golden West came up short in this one 3-1, with the loss the Rustlers fall to 6-4 on the year. Lali Rios was responsible for the Rustlers only RBI on the day and pitcher Kennedy Burton would be stuck with the loss.

The teams next game is Saturday, February 25 as they will compete in the Santa Barbra Tourney.
