Softball: Splits Doubleheader Against the Bobcats

Huntington Beach, Calif. -  The Rustlers split their home doubleheader with the Bobcats as they won by mercy rule 10-1 in five innings and then lost game two 7-1.

Starting pitcher Sennie Viramontes pitched a great game, throwing all five innings while allowing five hits and one run while striking out one to earn her seventh victory.

Four Rustlers were in the multi-hit club, but it was Brooklyn Gregory and Shelby Jacobsz who drove in three run each.

Golden West jumped out to an early 10-0 lead heading into the top of the fourth before Saddleback scored their lone run.

Game two was a different story for the Rustlers as their offense was stymied by Saddlebacks starting pitcher Desiree McGruder.

For the Rustlers, Aolani Sua got the start, and the Bobcats were quick to strike as they tallied nine hits and five runs in the three innings before Viramontes entered the game for four innings in relief.

Isabella Green led Golden West with two hits and Sua was responsible for driving in the lone run with an RBI down the left field line in the first inning.

Golden West will wrap up their season on Wednesday, April 26 as they travel to Cypress College for a 1:30pm start.
