Golden West No-Hits LA Valley

Huntington Beach, CA - Golden West softball (0-1) no-hit the LA Valley Monarchs (0-7) in a mercy victory, 11-0.

The Rustlers traveled to LA Valley for their second matchup of the season in hopes of finding their first win. Golden West jumped out ahead quickly as the team took advantage of a Monarch error in the top of the first frame. Sofia Herrera reached on an error committed by the third baseman as two runs crossed home, 2-0. In the second inning, Shelby Jacobs earned the game's first RBI's on a bases clearing double to right field, 5-0. 

For the third, the visiting Rustlers tallied three additional runs from two singles by Mia Duda and Herrera, 8-0. With the team already in a mercy position, Golden West added a few more insurance runs in the fourth and fifth inning. Desyree Arizmendi doubled in a run to left center that scored Jacobs. Orla Keys smacked an RBI  triple to make it a double-digit game, 10-0. To cap the scoring, Jacobs singled in a run in the fifth, 11-0. 

The star player of the game was in the pitching circle for the Rustlers. Arizmendi pitched a no-hitter for Golden West in their huge 11-0 victory. In the mercy win, she delivered 5.0 inning pitched, struck out seven and was only allowed three walks. Offensively, Jacobs had an incredible day at the plate as she went 4-4 with a run scored and knocked in four RBI's. Arizmendi also held her own in the batters box with a 2-4 day, one run scored and two RBI's. The Rustlers collected their first win of the season in a big way against the LA Valley.
