Golden West Earns Tenth Victory of Season

Huntington Beach, CA - Golden West softball (10-6, 5-4 OEC) held their first home conference game against the LA Harbor (8-18, 2-7 SCC), 6-2. 

The Rustlers revisited non-conference play as they welcomed the LA Harbor Seahawks to Golden West College. LA Harbor got on the board first with two hits and a run in the top of the first frame, 0-1. Golden West did not stay down for too long as they plated three runs off of four hits in their first opportunity. Orla Keys, Shelby Jacobsz and Sara Aguilar hit three consecutive singles to load the bases. On a passed ball, Keys crossed home to tie the game, 1-1. 

With two runners in scoring position, Desyree Arizmendi drove the ball to the gap to collect two RBIs and her team the lead, 3-1. Keys would smack her second single of the game for an RBI and extend the Rustlers edge, 4-1. The Seahawks tallied a run in the top of the sixth to put their deficit at two runs, 4-2. Golden West distanced themselves further in their final opportunity as they scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Jacobsz hit a key triple to score Sophia Herrera and Mia Duda, 6-2. The Rustlers finished off the win in the final inning for the win, 6-2. 

Jacobsz had an incredible day at the plate as she went 3-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Aguilar smacked two hits in her four plate appearances and scored once. Arizmendi pitched the complete game and only allowed two runs with ten strikeouts over 7.0 innings. Golden West earned their tenth win overall for the 2024 season.
