Huntington Beach, CA - Golden West softball (16-15, 10-10 OEC) honored sophomores in the final home game against the Orange Coast Pirates (23-12, 13-6 OEC), 0-7.
The Rustlers held their final regular season home game on Tuesday as the team recognized both Golden West and Orange Coast graduating sophomores. Golden West watches as five sophomores will be continuing their academic and athletic careers elsewhere in the coming fall. The student-athletes include: Maya Magdaleno, Madison Kistler, Lillian Smith, Shelby Jacobsz and Orla Keys. Golden West Athletics is excited and rooting for the graduating sophomores in their future endeavors.
As for the final series of the season, Golden West won the first matchup in a close fashion with one run being the deciding factor on Monday, 4-3. The Rustlers looked to win the series in the second game at home. The game began with two quick and quiet scoreless frames for both sides. The Pirates would jump out ahead in the top of the third as they plated four runs, 0-4. Orange Coast tallied an additional three runs in the fourth as Golden West dropped their final home game, 0-7. After the matchup, Golden West Athletics honored the graduating sophomores for both the Pirates and Rustlers side for a final send off of the 2024 regular season.
