W Basketball: McIntyre Commits to GWC; Highly Ranked Shooting Guard in CA

Huntington Beach, Calif. - St. Anthony standout guard Meghan McIntyre has verbally committed to Golden West College announced head coach Barry Migliorini.

Ranked as the 28th best shooting guard in California by Prep Girls Hoops, McIntyre looks to make a major impact as a freshman. During the 2019 season as a sophomore at Huntington Beach High, McIntyre was named Cal Hi Sports State Finalist nominee, All CIF, Orange County Register 4th team All-County, and Sunset League MVP in route to carrying Huntington Beach to the quarter finals of the CIF Championship. McIntyre will be the fourth rostered player for the Golden West Rustlers honored as a state finalist nominee by Cal Hi Sports.

At St. Anthony High School McIntyres senior leadership led her to being named team captain. In addition to being a standout on the hardwood, McIntyre takes care of business in the classroom carrying a 4.0 GPA. McIntyre will be Pre-Med and major in biology at Golden West. Coach Migliorini says "Meghan gives Golden West a powerful weapon, she has great range, the ability to bury the three or drive by defenders". McIntyre will be reunited with former St. Anthony teammate Emma Mehus who played this past season.

McIntyre plays her club ball for the Cal Sparks. Meghan is the daughter of Marc and Beth McIntyre of Long Beach, the granddaughter of Johnny "cupcake" Grisby of the minor league basketball Rockets, the grandniece of baseball hall of famer Frank Robinson and the older sister of Bridgette a rising basketball star in the class of 2022.
