Rustlers Break 48 Year Long Program Record

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West women's basketball (7-3, 0-0 OEC) defeated the Desert Roadrunners (2-10, 0-0 IEAC) for the second time this season, 98-63. 

In an electrifying showdown, Golden West College women's basketball staged an extraordinary comeback against Palo Verde at Blythe. The Rustlers, initially trailing by 11 points with less than a minute left in the first quarter, surged with an explosive 40-15 run, closing the half leading 49-35.

The Rustlers' momentum didn't wane in the second half as they amassed another 49 points, cruising to a commanding 98-64 victory. Kayla Terry was the standout star, scoring a phenomenal 37 points and securing 31 rebounds. She would break the 48 year program's single-game record of 30 rebounds previously held by Katie McLean since 1975.

Golden West's dominance on the boards was pivotal, leading to 40 second-chance points and a whopping 62 points in the paint. Catherine Jordan's efficiency was notable, shooting 50% and contributing 10 points in just 12 minutes. Keilah Ezaddin, was 3 for 7 and added a valuable 8 points to the tally. Makayla Hefferen's playmaking skills shone through with 5 assists, and Jessiah Ramirez bolstered the defense with 3 steals and a block.

Despite the challenge of having three key players benched with four fouls each, the Rustlers didn't falter. Their scoring efficiency was remarkable, averaging an astounding 1.13 points per possession. This game will be remembered as a testament to the Rustlers' conditioning, teamwork, and determination, etching a new chapter in their storied history. The Rustlers defeated the Palo Verde Pirates for the second time within two weeks,
