Women's Soccer Victory Makes History

Costa Mesa, Calif. - Golden West women's soccer left their mark on Rustler history when they beat Orange Coast College for the first time on the Pirate's turf. The Rustler's (5-4-3, 3-3-2) currently trail Orange Coast (6-5-1, 4-4) in the Orange Empire Conference overall ranking; but with this big win the women have their focus set on dominating the second half of their season.

Scoring the only point for the game was Marissa Anguiano, who got a free kick in the second half. The Rustler offense had a total of four shots on goal against the Pirate goalkeeper. Keeping Orange Coast out of the net for Golden West was Ruby Vasquez who totaled 2 saves, putting her season total at 51. Vasquez is currently ranked third in saves in the OEC.

The women will next face off with Norco at home on Friday, Oct. 17th at 3:00pm. The Rustlers defeated the Mustangs at home earlier in the season with a 3-0 shut out.
