W Soccer: Offense Explodes for Five Goals in Shutout Win

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The 2018 Golden West women's soccer team wanted to make it clear in game one, they can put the ball in the net.

The Rustler's (1-0) would net five goals en route to their opening day victory over Reedley College (0-1) on Tuesday. Rachel Mclure and Cindy Ramirez would each net two goals and Breanna Sandoval would net one. The offense was very proficent when putting the ball on goal, netting five of eight shots and totaling 11 shots for the match.

Mclure got Golden West on the scoreboard with a header that hit off of the crossbar into the goal from a perfectly placed pass by Ramirez. Then Reedley would take down Courtney Allard in the 18yd box to award a penalty kick that Ramirez converted to extend the Rustler lead to 2-0, thirty minutes into play.

Third year head coach Krissy Grana and her staff made some quality halftime adjustments that provided immediate dividends as the Rustlers would score three early second half goals to cruise to victory. Sandoval would provide the assist for Ramirez's second goal of the match eight minutes into the second half. Then two minutes later, Sandoval would find the back of the net thanks to the nifty passing from Ashley Mora and Ramirez. Golden West's final goal scored gave Mclure her second of the afternoon at the 67th minute with an assist from Sam Guzman

NEXT: The Rustlers will travel to LA Valley on Friday August 31st for a 2pm kickoff.
