W Soccer: Stoppage Time Goal By Ramirez Forces Tie

Huntington Beach, Calif. - It was one of those soccer matches that starts fast, then slowed, and then went into hyper speed in the last five minutes between Golden West College (3-1-1) and Long Beach City College (1-3-1) to end in a 3-3 tie.

Rustlers sophomore forward Cindy Ramirez netted the game tying goal assisted by Kailyn Cruz in stoppage time to end the match in a tie. A crazy last five minutes of play resulted in three goals, one for the Vikings, and two for the Rustlers.

Long Beach netted a goal in the 13th minute to take an early 1-0 lead but the Rustlers responded five minutes later with a goal from sophmore forward Courtney Allard to tie the match at 1-1. Later in the half the Vikings would score another goal to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

The Rustlers offense would dominate the ball possession time in the second half as they would get eight shots on goal. In the 87th minute, Golden West would tie the game at 2-2 as Breanna Sandoval netted her third goal of the season in timely fashion from a perfectly placed pass from Cruz for her first assist of the match. An undeterred Long Beach squad responded 45 seconds later with what appeared to be the game winner at 3-2 until Ramirez netted the tying goal a minute later in stoppage time for the 3-3 tie.
