The Golden West College Rustlers women's soccer team secured an emphatic 5-0 win over the Santa Ana College Dons on Friday afternoon. The Rustlers dominated from start to finish, earning their first conference win in style and improving to 3-5-1 on the season.
Golden West set the tone early when Mollie Miskelly opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a perfectly placed penalty kick to give the Rustlers a 1-0 lead. Just before halftime, Ana Baltazar doubled the advantage by finishing off an assist from Kaylee Gomez in the 42nd minute, sending the Rustlers into the break with a 2-0 cushion.
The Rustlers picked up where they left off, adding three goals in a dominant second half. In the 56th minute, Abby Kirby slotted in a goal off an assist from Miskelly to make it 3-0. Just three minutes later, Miskelly struck again from a corner kick, this time with Kirby returning the favor on the assist.
Miskelly completed her hat trick in the 60th minute, finishing off a pass from Sara Gonzalez to cap the scoring at 5-0.
Golden West's defense was impenetrable, not allowing a single shot from Santa Ana. Goalkeepers Tessa Wenzel, Sierra Carter, and Peyton Griffin combined for a clean sheet with six saves between them, ensuring the Dons never found their rhythm.
