    Associate Head Coach

Tracy made a great decision to come to California from Michigan in 2012 and has taken on the position of Assistant to the Men's and Women's Swimming at Golden West College and in 2016 named Associate Head Coach for Men's Swimming. He has 38 years of experience in coaching, starting at the age of 18 with the Grand Rapids Gators Age Group program and the Raider Swim Camp at Grand Rapids Junior College.

A graduate of Central Michigan University, with Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Business Education, he also earned a scholarship while swimming at CMU.  After graduating, he spent the next 4 years (1983 -1987) as the Head Coach for East Kentwood High School Girl’s Swimming and Diving and Assistant to Boy’s Swimming and Diving, achieving 3 Girl’s Conference Championships and 4 Boy’s Conference Championships.  The following 7 years (1986 -1993), he was the Head Coach for Grand Rapids Junior College, which finished a Top 5 contender during his tenure, 3 of those years as 2nd in the Nation at the National Junior College Championships.  Was also voted NJCAA Coach of the Year 3 times with 10 Individual NJCAA titles. He was also elected to 3 years as the President of the NJCAA Coaches Association.  From 1993 - 2003, Tracy was a parent volunteer coach with the Hammerhead Swim Club in Harbor Springs, MI. He became an Assistant  Coach in 2004 and then was hired as the Head Coach in 2005 - 2012.

Enhancing the sport of swimming continues to be his focus and passion. The opportunity to inspire youth, and work with parents, comes with and from a solid relationship of trust in the philosophy of our program.   “Being a father of 6 children (all are swimmers and some have also coached) has helped me develop an understanding of how children need to build character through the 4 D’s.”

“Dedication, Discipline, Desire and Determination are the keys that I believe in, and will share with everyone each day they walk onto the pool deck.”  Desire is an individual’s motivation to succeed, but it’s also the Determination and Discipline to an unrelenting pursuit of a goal - a commitment to excellence that takes Dedication.  These 4 objectives will enable us to attain the success that we seek while swimming, and in life after swimming.
