Rustler Women Are Off To The Races

Riverside, Calif. - The women of Golden West track and field took the top spot in 10 out of a total of 16 events for the day. Unfortunately due to unforsean weather complications, not all field events were able to take place. 

Sophomore Heather Simpson finished first in the 880m run with a time of 2:26.00 and finished second in the 200m run, her time was 27.04. 

Tailor Dunigan took first place with a time of 1:09.21 in the 400m hurdles and  finished second in the 100m hurdles. Dunigam also took first place in the long jump, completeing a 5.01m jump. 

Freshman Cynthia Torres, placed first in the  1500m run, her time was 5:11.6 and teammates Dunigan, Simpson, Kristi Perrotta, and Katharine Pavloff took third in the 4x400 relay. 

In the field events, Gabriela Cotociu took first place in the triple jump, her distance was 9.33m and Natasha Caldwell in the javelin throw took first with a 38.37m throw. 

NEXT: The track and field team travel to Concordia's Invitational Meet Friday, February 16th.
