Rustlers Take 1st in the Javelin Throw

Norwalk, Calif. - Golden West competed against area community colleges and several four-year universities March 1st and 2nd at the 2013 Beach Classic, hosted by Cerritos College.  The Rustlers were able to finish in the top 10 in 2 track events and 3 field events, and took first place in the Javelin throw. 

With a throw of 41.50m, Sophomore Natasha Caldwell propelled her Javelin into first place. This was a season record for Caldwell, just shy of the all time record she set for Golden West last season. 

In the track events, Heather Simpson finished 6th in her heat and 6th overall in the 800m run with a time of 2:26.39 and Kristi Perrotta placed 8th overall and 2nd in her 400m hurdle heat with a finishing time of 1:09.50.

On the field, Teammates Kaylie Higa and Sol Ochoa both placed 7th overall in the Pole Vault with distance of 3.13m. 

NEXT: The women will participate in the Ben Brown Invitational at Cal State Fullerton on March 8th
