Running Rustlers Breaking Records

Irvine, Calif. - The spring break invitational at UCI quickly became a series of significant milestones for members of the Golden West Track and Field team. Rustlers were breaking lifetime records, setting new school records, and ranking in the top of the Conference as well as Southern California. 

Ryan Watson finished the 200m dash in 21.95, a lifetime best for Watson and also the fastest GWC 200m in 8 years. Ranked 4th in the conference,  and 7th in Southern California, Watson's season is just heating up.  

Cynthia Torres raced in the in 1500m, finishing with a time of 4:54.76. Her time was the fastest a running Rustler has clocked in 17 years. Torres is currently ranked 3rd in the conference in her event. 

Teammates Tailor Dunigan, Kristi Perrotta and Heather Simpson all achieved lifetime best times in their events at the UCI event as well. Dunigan ran the 400m hurdles in 1:07.77, Perotta, also competing in the 400m Hurdles finished in 1:09.29. Simpson ran the 800m dash in 2:21.10, a quick acomplishment.
