Cynthia Torres Sets New 5K GWC Record

LaVerne, Calif. - The Women's Track and Field team traveled to University of LaVerne for what turned out to be a Golden West history making event.

Cynthia Torres, who has been improving her running times since the fall with the Cross Country team, set a new Golden West College record in the 5000m. Her time of 18:52.26 put her as the current state leader, and shattered the previous Rustler record of 19:22 set, in 1999 by the late Beckie Sweatman. Torres also took third place in the 1500 with a time of 4:56.26

Jumping her way to victory, Anna Lindsey continues to dominate the Triple Jump event with a distance of 10.98m for first. Lindsey placed second in both the High Jump (1.45m or 4' 9") and the Long Jump (5.08m).
