Running Rustlers Move on to OEC Finals

Fullerton, Calif. - Women's Track and Field participated in the Orange Empire Track and Field Prelim Championships over the weekend.  Golden West finished 4th overall with 25.50 points, as they now look toward the conference finals.

Cynthia Torres took second place in the 10K with a time of 38:33, setting a new school record that was previously held by Coach Simpson's sitter-in-law Ariana Condon in 2012. Torres not only broke the record, but destroyed it by 3 minutes and 20 seconds. 

In the 400 Meter Dash, Kiki Speed finished 7th with a time of 1:02.09, followed by teammate Britney Rodriguez (1:05.49). Speed then went on to compete in the 400 Meter Hurdles where she placed 4th in 1:07.69.

 Anna Lindsey placed 8th in the 100 Meter Hurdles (17.17) and then 6th in the Long Jump with a distance of 16-07.25.

Competing in the Pole Vault, Sol Ochoa took 3rd (9-00.25) competing for a record held by former Golden West track start Juli Powelll.

The Orange Empire finals will be held at Fullerton College on Friday, April 25th at 10:00am.
