Huntington Beach, Calif. - Women's track and field finished fifth in 2022 Orange Empire Conference Championships with four qualifiers for the SoCal Regional Prelims at Moorpark College.

Amara Muhammad set a new GWC record in the 100m with a time of 12.26 for a third place finish and in the 200m she set a personal best mark with a time of 25.33 for a fourth place finish. 

Emily Nguyen finished in second place in the long jump with 5.10m mark, finished fourth in the javelin throwing 29.14m, and finished fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.28m.

In the 800m Alejandra Suarez finished sixth with a time of 2:40, then finished eighth in the 1500m with a time of 5:28, and then went the distance in the 5000m for a sixth place finish in a time of 22:01.

Muhammad, Nguyen, Ra'Eesah Harris, and Ashley Tran competed in the 4x100m relay with a fifth place finish with 52.12 mark.

The SoCal Regional Prelims with be held at Moorpark College on Friday, May 6 with a 12pm start.
