Mission Viejo, Calif. - Sophomore Emily Nguyen placed 3rd at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional Heptathlon Finals

Nguyen secured a spot to the state championship meet in May with her third-place finish. The heptathlan was held over the two days competition which Nguyen racked up 3622 total points. She achieved personal bests in the 100m hurdles, 200m, shot put, javelin, and 800m. 

Cerritos College's Jazzmine Davis captured first place with 4,599 points and Palomar's Janniece Pingley edged out Nguyen for second place with 3,751 points. 

The CCCAA State Championships are scheduled to take place at Modesto Junior College on May 19-20.
