The Golden West College women's track and field team put forth a strong effort at the 2025 OEC Invitational, held on Friday, February 21, at Orange Coast College. Freshman Lowyn Pereyda led the charge for the Rustlers, securing two top-six finishes on the track.
Track Events
- 100 Meters: Freshman Geraldine Miranda clocked a time of 17.06 seconds, finishing 13th overall.
- 200 Meters: Jaden Campuzano placed 11th in 29.68, while Miranda finished 17th in 35.15.
- 800 Meters: Pereyda delivered a standout performance, finishing 2nd overall with a time of 2:29.44, earning eight points for Golden West.
- 1500 Meters: Pereyda continued her impressive showing, placing 6th with a time of 5:14.52, adding three more points to the team's tally.
- 100-Meter Hurdles: Campuzano finished 4th in 18.37, securing five points for the Rustlers.
Field Events
- Shot Put: Natalia Ramirez recorded a best throw of 9.39m (30' 9.75"), placing 9th, while Peyton Griffin finished 12th with a mark of 7.54m (24' 9").
- Discus: Ramirez claimed 7th place with a throw of 30.15m (98' 11"), earning two points, while Griffin followed in 8th place with a mark of 28.01m (91' 11"), contributing one point.
Golden West College showed promise with strong performances across multiple events, highlighted by Pereyda's podium finish in the 800 meters and Campuzano's top-four finish in the hurdles.
