No. 5 Golden West d. No. 12 Canyons, 3‐0 (25‐22, 25‐17, 25‐20)—

Once the golden child of the sport when they ran off an amazing 12 straight state
championships (1993‐2004), the Rustlers have been out of the mix the past few
years. This season, Golden West is making a charge and it started with this sweep
over the Cougars. The Orange Empire Conference champion Rustlers were led by
the duo of Alyssa Hubbard (11 kills) and Beth Boggs (10 kills). Kat Castillo had an
outstanding defensive match with 25 digs plus two aces. GW is also led by All‐State
setter Klaire Blasco.

Golden West (20‐3) plays at No. 4 Mt. San Antonio in Round 2. Canyons ends its
season at 14‐10.
