Golden West Sweeps Fullerton, remains undefeated

Golden West Sweeps Fullerton, remains undefeated

Hard hits, great defense and a little bit of luck helped Golden West remain undefeated in its 25-21, 25-22, 25-18 victory over Fullerton at home.

Both Golden West (10-0) and Fullerton (10-1) came into this match with undefeated records. The Rustlers came out on top of a match consisting of three hard-fought sets.

Leading the offense once again was the tandem of Jordyn Sanchez and Tyler Davis, recording 15 kills and 11 kills respectively. The duo also got it done on defense as Sanchez led with 15 digs and Davis recorded 7.

Defense was the name of the game for Golden West, recording 48 digs and only 2 receiving errors. Libero Kelynn Mullally was right behind Sanchez with 14 digs, showing once again that she is one of the top defenders in the Orange Empire Conference.

Unfortunately, errors were also a large part of the match for both sides. Golden West committed 15 attacking errors and 9 service errors to go along with a multitude of mental lapses. In fact, consecutive mental and physical errors by the Rustlers allowed Fullerton to bridge the scoring gap. On the other hand, Golden West was able to pull away in each set thanks to Fullerton's errors and some lucky breaks.

Golden West looks to keep its undefeated season alive on the road this Friday, 10/18, against Saddleback (5-6), and next Wednesday, 10/23, against Riverside (5-7).
