Rustlers sweep Riverside in final home match

Huntington Beach, Calif. - In the final home match of the season, Golden West took care of business with a 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 sweep of Riverside.

Golden West (16-3, 10-3) played on its toes the entire match making sure Riverside (7-14, 3-10) was never able to gain momentum. Leading the charge on offense was the duo of Jordyn Sanchez and Tyler Davis. Sanchez, who celebrated her birthday today, turned in a great performance with a team leading 13 kills and Davis was right behind her with 10 kills.

Sanchez and Davis also lead the way on defense recording 15 and 12 digs respectively. Libero Kelynn Mullally was, as usual, right in mix earning 11 digs, helping the Rustlers' defense to a total of 55 digs.

The Rustlers had a solid showing from the service line, fooling the Tigers' defense with 10 service aces. Sanchez and setter Janessa Brown lead the team with 3 aces a piece. Brown was also quite helpful to the offensive attack recording 32 assists out of the teams 40.

Middle blockers Drucilla Gauta and Nikol Powers did not see too much action this match combining for only 13 kills and 3 blocks. Although, Gauta kept up her good name in the accuracy department with a .438 hitting percentage.

Wednesday Nov. 20 will mark the final match of the season for Golden West as the Rustlers travel to Irvine Valley to face Annie Mitchem and the Lasers.
