Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West's woman's volleyball has had a strong start to their season, but it was not enough as the Rustlers (8-2) fell in a three set sweep to Irvine Valley College (8-0), 25-19, 25-23, 25-21, in their conference opener.

Gabi Nguyen led the way for the Rustlers with 11 kills and 27 digs, posting her fourth double-double of the early season and had some help from a trio of Rustlers in Jasmine Hogan, Ashley Pettibone, and Daisy Gonzalez who each had 6 kills. Libero Kelynn Mullally chipped in defensively with 34 digs.

The Rustlers played some very inspiring defense but had difficulty stopping the attacking of the Lasers who led for the majority of each set.

The Rustlers will take on their next two conference foes on the road at Saddleback College on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 6 pm and at Cypress College on Friday Oct, 10 at 7 pm before returning home to take on Orange Coast College on Oct. 15.
