Cantley and Pearson Make Quick Work of Rival in Sweep

Huntington Beach, CA­ - One hour's worth of work by the Golden West women's volleyball team on Wednesday was time well spent.

The Rustlers rolled through visiting Orange Coast College en route to a 25-8, 25-14, 25-18, three-set sweep. The victory kept Golden West (8-7, 5-1) in second place in the Orange Empire Conference standings, moved the Rustlers to above .500 on the season and extended the team's winning streak to two games.

Freshman Keilani Pearson (Huntington Beach High) had a team-high 11 kills, with seven digs and two service aces to pace Golden West. Freshman Erica Cantley (Cypress High) had a team-high 31 assists, with two kills and six digs, sophomore Kayelyn Nunuz had a team-high 20 digs and freshman Holly Hennessy (Marina High) added a team-high four aces with a kill and a dig.

Sophomore Ashleigh Atsaros had nine kills, with sophomore Cherene Uale and freshman Eden VanWaardenburg both contributing six kills for the Rustlers.

Golden West plays host to Cypress College, ranked No. 22 in the state, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
